Intentional communities

Beyond the white picket fence: communal living in Australia and the US

Savannah Fishel has visited over 50 models of community-orientated housing, such as ecovillages, tiny home villages and cohousing. She’s on a Churchill Fellowship, learning from those who have reimagined how we can live together more collaboratively, compassionately and sustainably. With a background in health policy and public service design in the UK, she’s interested in the power of intergenerational housing to tackle loneliness, bridge divides and provide an alternative to an increasingly individualistic society.

We didn’t finish there Savannah wanted to talk particularly about her Australian experience.
