A fascinating glimpse of the times in pre war Austria part 1
Hilde Varney, dear friend and long term peace activist, passionate about justice and human rights, gives Irene Gale and myself a taste of what life was like for a teenage girl in pre-war Austria. Funny little anecdotes off-set the gravity and trauma of the situation.
In Part 2 Hilde takes the listener from hilarious stories of conical bras worn by Russian women to grim stories of life under Hitler. This remarkable stoic woman, 92 years young and despite several debilitating health set backs, including a stroke, is still as sharp as a tack and has an indomitable spirit and will quickly express her indignation at the injustices all around us.
